What we do

Support Students

We are seeking a new way to support student research in carcinology. Inspired by subscription services, such as Patreon, that support content creators, we thought to adopt a similar model to engage the public and find and create non-traditional funding avenues for students doing basic research on crustaceans.

Fostering collaborations

Linking citizens and scientists

Part of doing science well is communicating with a wider audience. We want to help students find ways of doing this effectively. We also want to help members of the public find young scientists. These are partnerships that we belive will benefit society and science. Contact us to connect with a student scientist.

Scientists spend a great deal of time working alone in the lab or field, collecting data, running experiements and analysing data. We are trying to help students find more ways to feel connected and supported, especially when spending long hours working alone. Crab Lab student members pay no fees to join. In return for opportunities to connect with other students and gain small amounts of research funding, students are asked to contribute to the platform by sharing their work, submitting pictures and videos and reaching out for chats with the people who support us.
